Occurrence and Insecticide Susceptibility of Tomato Leafminer (Phthorimaea absoluta(=Tuta absoluta)) in Gyeonggi region of Korea

Abstract

The tomato leaf miner (Phthorimaea absoluta(=Tuta absoluta)) was confirmed in 16 counties in the Gyeonggi region. Its occurrence began in March, with density increasing from mid-May and peaking in early July. A sharp decline in density was observed following the transition in the cropping season. Based on field trials, two chemical pesticides were selected for larval control. Additional research is needed to optimize spraying intervals and systematic treatments for controlling tomato leaf miners.
