Abstract

Fig weevils are spreading rapidly throughout the fig-growing regions of the Mediterranean, Southern Europe, and South Korea, requiring urgent control measures. This study investigated susceptibility of the fig weevil, Aclees taiwanensis, to 23 commercial insecticides under laboratory conditions, aiming to provide timely recommendations. Mortality was evaluated by exposing adult weevils to various diluted pesticide concentrations. The results showed that Cartap hydrochloride, belonging to the Nereistoxin analog group was the most effective pesticide, achieving 100% mortality at lower diluted concentrations. Carbaryl, Carbosulfan, Fenobucarb (from Carbamate), and Fenitrothion, Phenthoate (Organophosphate groups) were also highly effective against the weevils (>76.7% mortality) seven days after treatment. The LC50 values were estimated through an acute toxicity test.
